Just the way it goes sometimes

Like they said in Ghostbusters, "when someone asks you if you're a God, you say YES!"
I had a couple people on our team reach out to ask if I was available to stick around an extra week, but then I got a travel release to book a flight home, so home I go on Saturday. And I get to wonder if the difference was that when the latter person to reach out asked me if I could help on the front desk part of the software, I equivocated, saying that I hadn't done so in a while, but I could be of service. Should have just said yes, because it's a task I've done before, and the software hasn't changed substantially in the past two years.
But like I said yesterday, I'm good either way. I get to go home, help my sis-in-law celebrate her birthday on Sunday, play some pickleball during the week, do a road trip to go see a highly anticipated concert next Friday. It's all good! Except for the part for I'm gonna miss the Squirrelfest down here in Arkansas on the weekend. I've never eaten squirrel before. Actually, now that I type that out, I'm not sure if missing that festival is a bad thing or not!
