Quiet times

Wednesday, September 18, 2019

I haven't had much to say lately. Not much has been going on. I'm working through some things, but nothing big is happening.

I've been lonely lately. I've mostly been spending time with Lilo. She's such a sweet dog. I need to try and be more sociable. I actually signed up for a dating service. I didn't last 24 hours. If I decide to date again, I think I need to be in a better place physically, emotionally, and financially.

The weight loss process has been going okay, but not great. I'm not as focused lately. I had a massive donut and pizza binge the other day. I don't feel guilty about it, but I don't plan on repeating that behavior in the near future.

I guess I just feel a lack of purpose lately. Eat, sleep, work, watch TV. It's not an incredibly interesting routine. I need a hobby or something. I've thought about getting my master's degree. That's just not something I'm ready to take on now.

Well, I'm going to watch Star Trek Voyager while Lilo kicks me in her sleep. Fun times. :-)

My motivation varies,too... It seems to be part of the process. Sometimes it's because I'm stressed out,and of course that's when I don't want to exercise, & eat too much of all the wrong stuff. The important thing is to keep moving. But if you're starting to get a feeling that maybe something needs to change... well, maybe try changing something. Something small, at first. No new hobbies that require lots of equipment or supplies, just something to shake up the routine a little. I did like the suggestion about Meetup---you can connect with people with similar interests, and their get togethers are usually pretty informal. And if you don't care for it, no big deal.

I understand how you feel. Getting more involved in my church helped me, and Sparking more helps, too. You might also look into MeetUps in your area. They have them for everything! And with your proximity to a big city, I'm sure there will be lots near you, so you're likely to find something you like. If you're looking for something new but more introverted: use the DuoLingo app to learn a new language, use Coursera to take a class, get a new cook book in a different style of cooking than you're used to.

Look into a volunteer thing you can do...they tend to be very appreciative You find these 'jobs' at churches, schools, hospitals and other NGO charities.
My Hubby was recently looking into reading the newspaper aloud from home online for blind listeners. This was quite local. So there are a large variety of VOLUNTEER options.

I hope you feel more in sync in the coming days. I sometimes find I just need to find gratitude for the simple daily things & that somehow corrects the thinking that I have to do something big for my life to be meaningful.
