Changing from all or nothing to Something, Anything can be a victory

I stepped on my scale this morning, and the number that flashed up was the same as it has read for the last three days. My old habits and old ways of thinking asserted themselves first.. "Darn, I worked so hard, planned and watched my meals, exercised, showed restraint, even meditated, and got enough sleep....and nothing!" But then my newer, more rational, more optimistic mind showed up and asserted itself.
If there's no result, it nudged, then why are these pants so loose in the hips and the waist. Last time they were just barely big enough. Count this thought as my number one Non-Scale Victory of the Day.
Curious, I decided to take my measurements again...it had been a while since I bothered to do that....no change in the chest measurement. Sigh...but wait! 1 inch off the waist, that's encouraging...2 inches off the hips and 2 inches off the thigh....non-scale victories numbers 2, 3, and 4! This effort is starting to pay off! More measuring...on a roll now...one and a half inches off the upper arm, and even a half inch off the neck! That's victories 5 and 6!
And while I'm looking at things from a different perspective....those three days without a change in weight....they ALSO represent 3 days of no weight gain, 3 days of weight maintenance, three days of not going backwards....
Hip, hip, hooray! Something to celebrate after all......
