Exodus 3:14

He Is There and He Is Not Silent (1972) is one of the many popular books of the late theologian Francis Schaeffer (d. 1984). In the book Schaeffer set forth biblical arguments for two truths. God exists and He has spoken with a clear voice to mankind.
When God called Moses to lead the Hebrews slaves out of Egypt, he raised both those important issues. Anticipating questions the Hebrews would ask him, Moses asked God who he should say was sending him and what name He is called by. The questions were understandable--the descendants of Jacob had been trapped in Egypt as slaves for 400 years. They could be forgiven for wandering if God would ever speak to them or help them again that His name is "I AM"--a statement of His sovereign existence. Fortunately, the Hebrew slaves believed Moses and listened But God was there and He was not silent. He told Moses to tell the people that His name is "I AM"--a statement of His sovereign existence. to God's voice..
Fifteen hundred years later, the writer to the Hebrews told his readers, "Do not refuse Him who speaks" (Hebrews 12:25). As you study God's Word and the Spirit quickens it to your heart (Romans 10:17) listen to the one who speaks.
