It's Just That.

Wednesday, September 11, 2019

I am loving the change in season when the light gets softer, the shadows get longer and maybe life slows down a tad. At least I hope so. On my walk this morning I noticed the difference the air felt and very soon autumn will arrive.

So what’s new in my neighborhood? Bernie’s eye has finally healed; a scratch cornea isn’t fun for anyone including one sweet dog. So the “cone of shame” is in the trash bin, and he is one happy camper.

Now that we got over that little bump on the road, I can relax more. It was extremely difficult knowing Bernie was in so much pain for quite a few weeks; I am so relieved it is over.

Next on my blog agenda: Do you ever take constructive criticism personal? I mean do your feelings get hurt when someone has something pertinent to say that can change your actions positively?

Well, if so, consider the feedbacks just as observations.

They are not to affect you negatively, they’re just observations.

They do not mean much until we assign them to mean much. And assigning is everything.

I have sometimes wrongly assumed I am being measured. I have always wrongly assumed that I am a conglomeration of the things I do and the things I say, that there is judgment on the other side of commentary, that perfection is asked of me (required of me?) and that I will always, always fall short.

But an observation is an observation.

Nothing more, nothing less.

And an observer is an observer.

Nothing more, nothing less.

They are just what you make of it.
