The initial meet is over

I met my new doctor today. It wasn't as bad as I had allowed to build up in my mind. Of course, I forgot to mention a lot of things but I think we did ok. He asked me why I was taking 3 kinds of insulin and I told him that this is what previous docs had given me and my last couple of docs did not make any changes. In fact, the last one just gave me my prescriptions but did not order any bloodwork. This one said he might consider changing the insulin but gave me a req to get bloodwork done and said once he gets the results, "we will talk" lol He also said he might consider sending me to an endo for consultation.
It's funny, because I used to see an endo when I lived in BC. There, GP's were for general doctoring, and Endo's were for ANYTHING to do with the endocrene system INCLUDING diabetes. Here, I was told they are used for "only very special cases" and only out of the University of Alberta..... and I could not get a referral to one. That just shows how different health care approach is from province to province. Anyway, I don't have a problem seeing one. Who knows, it can't hurt and most assuredly should help!
Because I have to rely on others to take me to the lab, I told him could not get to the lab much before 1 or 1:30, it is not easy for me to do fasting bloodwork, but he said do what I could. Sis said there is a lab nearer to where she lives that is open Saturday mornings so my BIL will take me there on Saturday morning. Then it will be back to this doc for our "talk" lol
Sis asked if I had told him about my venous insufficency (and the fact that I need to wear compression stockings) and I said that I had forgotten because we only had so much time and we were busy talking about other things. There are a few other background and family history items that I should fill him in on. I need to write as much of this down as I can remember so I have it in front of me next time I go.
Off to bed now...
