God is Calling YOU

Saturday, August 31, 2019

We are all called to some kind of Ministry as believers in Christ Jesus. We have each been gifted and placed uniquely in this world, at this time, to carry the message in some way, and every small thing we do is BIG for the kingdom.

Jesus told his disciples.. Matthew 28:19 New Living Translation (NLT)19 Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations,[a] baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

We are called to make disciples. All of us as followers of Jesus Christ. Now, some of you are thinking “no, not me. I am not called nor gifted to do evangelism.” That is ok. That is not what I necessarily am talking about.

There are many ministries:
Sunday School
Prayer Groups
Church Committees
Evangelism with neighbors and colleagues through relationships
Serving Food at a soup kitchen

The list could go on for a very long time. The point is that there are many ways to help spread the Word of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. No service is greater than another. For it says:

1 Corinthians 12:4 New Living Translation (NLT)4 There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but the same Spirit is the source of them all.

And: Romans 12:4-9 New Living Translation (NLT)4 Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, 5 so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other.6 In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you. 7 If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well. 8 If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly.

If you say “But Kate, that puts me in a vulnerable position.” I encourage you to read Tim Ferrara’s article on vulnerability at Discerning Dad. discerning-dad.c

Right now my ministry calling is part time in 3 areas. I am the Community Liaison at my church and I articulate the needs of the community around our church to the staff to see how we can help and possibly start on-going programs of help. I also have this blog. And recently, I took on developing a Jail Ministry from our church to the Jail 3 blocks away. We had our first meeting today and had 11 people with 12 people interested (one could not come to the meeting).

It is this last calling of mine that I would like prayers for. (but feel free to pray for all of them 😊)

As we go into the jail and get to know the people in there, we will need a prayer covering. Our message is that we care, Jesus came and died for them, and 1 John 1:9 which says: (my own paraphrasing) If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and will give us a clean slate for all our former wrong doings.

This ministry will take vulnerability for all who enter the jail, for the inmates who want to meet with us, and for the members of our church that want to support the inmates once they get out.

As Tim Ferrara says “Is there a risk that God is calling you to take for His kingdom that you are afraid of because you will be vulnerable?” And also: “How can I step out of my comfort zone into vulnerability to where God is currently calling me?”

I would REALLY LOVE to hear where God has called you to, where you think you are being called to, and what ministry is on your heart. Please, pretty please lol, comment below and lets share where God is moving in our lives.

Until next time~
Blessings Kate
