New challenges and a PR.

Sunday, August 25, 2019

It's been a busy summer and start of the school year. First, I have switched from teaching elementary students with Down Syndrome and Autism, as well as other developmental disorders, to teaching middle schoolers with severe behavioral issues. So far I love it!

I've witnessed some blow-ups, seen the disrespect that comes from immature coping systems, the finger pointing at others blaming them and the "it's not my fault" syndrome. Yes, I am crazy and I love this new challenge.

I am also going to the gym 5 days a week. I have two spin classes, two weight lifting classes and one yoga class. All start at 5:15 AM so I get up early, around 4:20 AM. Feed all the pets, move a couple of cars and off I go.

I was a bit worried that the time in the gym, and away from running, would adversely affect my running. I found out yesterday, that it wasn't the case. I did a 6 mile trail race called "What the Hill?" It's a loop that includes not one, but two decent size hill. I was very happy when I finished and figured out I ran sub 12 minute miles. That is huge for the trail that I was running. I wasn't first, but I was elated!!!

The schedule I have at the gym, plus all the walking I do at work checking on my kids while they are in their gen ed classes, have broke the plateau I was on. I am now right smack in the middle of my 5 lbs. goal range. I guess I'll keep doing what I'm doing!

I hope all is well with you all. Change is good and I'm loving the challenges that have occurred in my life lately. I hope there has been good changes in your lives, as well. Hugs for you all.
