Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.
Philippians 4:6

We've all said it in one form or another: "Thanks for whatever you can do." We are talking to a banker, an attorney, an auto mechanic, even a friend or relative, about a particularly thorny problem for which the solution is not readily apparent. We explain the situation while the other person ponders a solution. As we depart, we say, "Well thanks so much for whatever you can work out." We don't know what the remedy will be, but we're thankful for the other person's promise to do what they can.
Paul's words about prayer echo that same attitude:"in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving." Paul says we should be thankful as we pray, long before we know what God's answer will be.: "Lord, this is a tricky situation from my point of view. I don't see a solution. I'm leaving this with You--ad thank You for whatever you choose to do." It's easy to thank God when we like the answer to a prayer; it's harder to be thankful when we don't like the answer to a prayer. But how about being thankful before we get any answer at all?
As you pray about various matters affecting your life today, follow Paul's admonition. Get in the habit of thanking God as you pray even before you know what His answer will be.
