Daily Highlight 171 - Keto?

Highlight -
My son brought me his menu for doing Keto. I am NOT a fan. He did need to lose weight quickly for his back surgery, but has gained back a few pounds. I've heard too many stories about heart issues with Keto and it isn't a sustainable lifestyle for me. In order to support him it is our menu for the week, but I have added to it so our plates are more balanced.
I try not to be judgmental as everyone's needs are different. For me it is more of a whole food, plant based approach.

Grateful -
I don't do Keto.
Gentle yoga.
Brain fog is lifting.

    I just don't see how eating high fat and protein for long term is healthy.
    I just imagine ones internal organs getting all clogged with oil like a kitchen sink drain.
    I've lost weight eating mainly plants which I combine with small amounts of lean protein and a few carbs (mainly from fruit/veggies and a bit of whole grains here and there).

    It's all about sustainability. If it's not something you can do for the rest of your life, and it's not balanced, it isn't the right nutrition plan for me. Good luck!

    Whole food plant based is definitely healthier and doctor recommended. It's hard when you see people you love making decisions you don't agree with. Good luck to you!

    I echo your sentiments...if I cannot do something forever, or at least be open to doing it, just not worthy of my time or energy. This has been one of the more valuable nuggets I’ve learned about myself on my quest to healthier living/healthier me. You’re an amazing Mom. Glad the fog is lifting...namaste.

    Our son and daughter in law have been on that and no, I am not a fan of it either. They told us they were doing "great" but when they sent us a pic they didn't look like they lost an ounce. Another fad I am sure!
