Deck Visitor, Lakes hike

Thursday, August 15, 2019

I looked out my window this afternoon, and discovered that the deer herd was once again hiding under my front deck. It’s a nice shady spot for them! I’m not sure if this is the greatest photo, but they run away if I get closer

I had minor surgery yesterday to remove a cyst on my back. So I am following the doctor’s advice and avoiding exercising for a couple of days, so I don’t rip out the stitches. But I am sharing photos from a hike with friends to the mountain lakes in the Oregon Cascade mountains. We did this hike last month, but I got behind in blogging. And I am missing hiking and missing the mountains, and these photos bring me back to a place of joy.

Wildflowers were blooming along the trail. Even the bear grass was still blooming in the high country.

We arrived at beautiful Benson lake.

Then we hiked another mile to beautiful small Tenas lake.

Then we hiked back to our starting point, and a little bit farther, to reach Scott lake.

Even though the wildflowers and the views were wonderful, the mosquitoes were horrible. I am glad I brought toxic bug spray! My friend had herbal spray that did not work.

A couple of days later, Hanne and I hiked around Clear Lake. This was a more grueling hike for both of us. It used to be an easier hike, but we are older end it has become more strenuous for us. But I am so glad we went, it was beautiful.

Clear Lake is the source of the mighty McKenzie river. The final photo is me crossing the trail bridge over the river. I can’t wait until I can go hiking again!

Hope the cyst has healed by now. I know all about those kind of surgeries, been there. Don't get in any water either for awhile.
Deer are beautiful, but like any animal they can be a nuisance and messy too. Take care and keep sharing those beautiful places you hike!

I can relate to dr’s orders to curtain activity for a time. I hope we can get back out in the mountains in California and my knee behaves. At least I can enjoy your pictures. Thanks.

I have missed your pictures thank you for sharing. I have a deer that hangs out at the house who is also a bit camera shy. He will look at me with a great pose until I have my camera or phone in hand to take a picture.

I got to do some reading research on the Cascades The Cascade Range or Cascades is a major mountain range of western North America, extending from southern British Columbia through Washington and Oregon to Northern California. That is really huge. You are so Blessed to live where you do
