In July, my daughter's GS troop (they are going into 5th grade this fall) planned their first tent camping experience. I was lucky enough to go along as a chaperone. We had 12 girls in Jay Cooke State Park. For many it was their first time cooking over a fire and sleeping in a tent for 3 nights. We had great weather the first two nights but the third evening we had a storm come through. One of the tents was a bit older and didn't survive the downpour. We did a mad scramble to get those four girls into different tents and shared resources so they all had dry blankets/sleeping bags to sleep in. It is just one of those things that will make their first camping trip very memorable. In the area we visited Gooseberry Falls and Split Rock Lighthouse. I hope the girls continue to love the outdoors and go on more adventures.
I think that is good for GS troops to enjoy the adventures of somewhat roughing it in the great outdoors. Such a beautiful area where you went for the camping. A great experience for you and your daughter to share. 432 days ago
