The past two days have seen me babysitting. The kids, who have called me Mom since high school.asked if we could keep the two youngest while she went to her follow up surgeon appointment out of town. All three kids have called me Grandma since they could speak. I love them as much as I would biological grandkids.
So the last few times I've been getting them outside and away from cartoons and video games. They resisted but now they ask to go out. I got sidewalk chalk and bubbles. They love them both. We have them running races too. Plus we walk down the street to see if we can find my neighbor's horse. The oldest wasn't with us he was with another grandmother. Of course, I have them drawing and coloring too. They think it's cool to have their pictures on the refrigerator. The youngest rearranges them every visit, lol. They just moved to their own home last weekend. The youngest loves rocks. A girl after my own heart, lol. Thus afternoon the 6 year old told me I was the best grandma ever. He's my special boy as he is autistic. He has challenges and sometimes we butt heads because he doesn't like to try new things. Reluctantly he tries most and finds out he likes it. His biggest challenge is food. He's finally getting alot better. We made mini cupcakes. My son, the kids and I. They have their own little spatulas. I had bought a little cupcake kit for the 3 year old. My son put it together and I put the cupcakes on it and they had their pictures taken. Later I got a box of old costume jewelry from my late aunt out. The kids piled on the necklaces and bracelets. They played with monster trucks and had an hour of video games. They watched cartoons until noon. So they had a variety of things going on. Their laughter and giggles make it worthwhile.
Have a blessed weekend. Love and hugs.
