Daily Highlight 158 - Summer Is Not Over

Wednesday, August 07, 2019

Highlight -
Entering the market, getting ready to shop,
With list in hand for the groceries to be bought.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a display filled with large bags of small size Kit Kats, Snickers, and
Butterfingers, that many hold dear.

Candy corn and Reese's Pumpkins were also there,
And out of frustration I about pulled out my hair!
Alrighty, I'm not a poet, but you get the gist,
I said, "Summer Is Not Over!" Shaking my fist.
We still have fresh produce - zucchini and squash.
Upon which to nosh.
Bring me my sandals and shorts,
I'm off to the beach thinking of water sports. 🏊‍♀️

My apologies to Clement Clarke Moore

Grateful -
I do not write for a living.✍️
That I can read. 📚
I'm not ready for Halloween.🎃

I loved your parody...or riff. Clever, fun...and I feel your frustration. I refused to look at fall decor items in June, at Christmas stuff now! Seriously, we rush ahead and fail to make the most of the moment. I’m with you, I’ll be enjoying summertime fun until fall arrives sometime in October. The fresh produce is a delight, I’d wear flip flops 365 if I could.

Too funny!! Rushing the season, absolutely: although I believe plenty of people consider these "back to school" lunch box treats too!!!

I'm finding that buying my groceries online and just picking them up prevents me from buying impulsively (candy and snacks that aren't needed). I also stay in my budget much better, not to mention buying only healthy needed items. Less struggle.
