GOD IS ON TIME
The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us...
2 Peter 3:92
Did you know "I promise" is not found in the Bible? The implication is that when God makes promises, He doesn't have to add the words "I promise" to convince the hearer that He means what He says. When a parent says something to a child and the child replies, "Do you promise?" It may be an indication that somewhere in the past a word given was not a word kept. Jesus said, "But let your Yes be Yes." (Matthew 5:37)
The greatest challenge we have in embracing the promises of God is the variable of time. Even the apostles were anxious for God to keep His promises about (reassuring) the kingdom to Israel. Jesus reminded them that they should not worry about "times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority." (Acts 1:6-7) In other words, trust the what without worrying about the when. We forget that God's promises flow from the perfection of His character. For a promise to be made and not kept would be to allow a chink in the unassailable nature of God Himself.
If there is a promise in Scripture you are depending on, let time be a test for your faith and God's faithfulness. God's promises are always kept.
