Just a quick blog as my laptop likes to eat things for no reason.
It has been 12 days now since my fall while out walking a steep hill on a back country road. At first I couldn't hop on one foot. I seemed to have forgotten how. Sister loaned me a pair of crutches and I tried to fall over backwards several times at first. DH was really staying close by. I do have a wheelchair we kept when a dear aunt died several years ago, and that has turned out to be a real blessing. And it reminds me of her.
I am so glad that at age 71 I have been doing exercises and getting my weight more under control. I had the upper body strength to work the crutches and get me in and out of the wheelchair. I did relearn how to hop on one foot and I can really move that way if I really need to. When younger I could lift myself up off the floor using one leg. I cannot do that now, but with a little extra push from my arms I can. Love those thigh exercises I was doing to get up off the floor after my grandson was born. Getting back into shape was so worth it!
I cannot go on the long walks with my 10 month old puppy anymore, but we play tug of war and fetch to try to help wear her out. I look forward to getting back into our routine of walking the neighborhood.
Our house has a flight of stairs so I chose to stay on the upper bedroom levels with my chairs, books, puzzles, sewing machine, knitting, etc. I have a wonderful sitting room to enjoy. DD brought me a college dorm size refrigerator and microwave, but DH is fixing our meals. He does not cook, but reheats nicely! I wish I had more meals in the freezer, but we will survive. I do hope it doesn't add any pounds though. That would make me sad!
Better go before this little computer erases anything. It likes to do that.
