A Birthday Outing

Friday, July 26, 2019

On the 7th my pastor casualy mentioned that the 8th was his birthday. We had arrived in Pucallpa and gotten him settled next door at Levi's cousin's house, and I told Levi. "What should we do?" We decided to treat him to a nice meal at one of the touristy restaurants in Yarinacocha, looking out on the lake. We included the immediate family - Ma, Pa, Levi's son Josue, Josue's significant other Nora with her son Anghelo and their toddler Kaleb. It was a steep climb down (because it0s the dry season)

but worth it. Pretty plants

and some colorful parrots (who charmed us when they anwered "Hola" to the boys' greeting)

We sat in a corner with a great view of the lake and took a while to decide what to order. We each ordered somethig, but then, so that Edwin could try some of the junglemeats, we ordered a sampler platter.

After we were uite full (the leftovers supplied supper!) we treated Edwin to a boat ride around the lake. It was very pleasant and relaxing, lasting about an hour.Needless to say, Edwin and I both went crazy taking pix and vids!

I think I was the only one who bothered to put on the life jacket.

A few interesting sights...

Nora took this pic of us at the restaurant as we waited for our food

After the big meal and the boat ride with all the fresh air, we were all drowsy. Everyone rested the rest of the day! And Edwin had a happy birthday!
