Wednesday July 24th...oops, a bad fall
Wednesday, July 24, 2019
Today I was on my way to the pool at 6 am, and I tripped on a slightly raised paver. I fell on my metal knee replacement with my left hand breaking the fall and keeping me from hitting my head. Of course, needed help getting up. Thank heavens for a couple of really kind street people who rushed in to assist me.
I was smart enough to know being in the cool water would be a good idea for the swelling, etc.It was only later when I was trying to climb the stairs to get out I realized I had done something to my chest area as well. I did get in to see my doctor, and he is pretty sure I sprained the muscles in my chest. So now I am on a muscle relaxant for the pain since I cannot take NSAIDs.
Good news is that it was the metal knee, so no bone chips or cracked bones to worry about- and bruises go away on their own. The hand and wrist are bruised and really sore, but nothing broken. So, while I was a bit shaken, it could have been so much worse.
Was advised to try and go to the pool again tomorrow to keep everything moving, then sit in the hot tub for a bit afterwards. You just never know what a day will hold!
