I'm Still Struggling With Pain Management
Wednesday, July 24, 2019
I've had tons of pain in my life but I'm having a problem getting a handle on this nerve pain. There is no rhyme, reason or pattern to it. One minute I'm comfortable, then I move around a little and am crushed with pain. The laws governing pain medication changed in January of 2019 and this requires me to do some tight budgeting of whatever medication I have. I did call the doctor's office this morning to enlist their help in dealing with the issue. I will most likely hear from them tomorrow or Friday. We'll see what happens. I hope they can give me guidance - I know they are aware of the issue because they warned me several times during my pre op exam. The hand has so many little nerves in it (and big ones too) that disturbing one small area kind of explodes into swelling and referred pain. I also need to know just how much movement is enough or is too much. Anything that drastically increases my circulation, increases swelling and thus increases pain. I've had to stay in a cool atmosphere because warm temperatures cause swelling. Gahhhh! This too shall pass - quickly I hope!
On a lighter note, hubby took me to get my hair washed and blown dry while he got a haircut. I feel like a new woman! Isn't it amazing how the small things can have a big overall effect? Priceless!
