Hanne and I were thrilled to go on a beautiful hike up Coffin Mountain. If you have been reading my blog, you know that I love to hike. And I have been living and hiking here for over 25 years. Until about two years ago ( when arthritis and asthma slowed me down) I led occasional hikes for the sierra club and another local hiking group. So I am familiar with most hikes in the area.
Coffin Mountain was a new hike for us. It was extremely steep, but not very long — and very scenic. We drove in past beautiful views and banks of blooming wild rhododendrons.
Then onto the trail.
This has been a super bloom year for bear grass. Bear grass only blooms every two or three years, and I have never seen it bloom so profusely. It is so tall and it is almost hiding Hanne.
The lookout at the top of the mountain is visible over the bear grass.
We enjoyed the huge diversity of other wildflowers as well.
Getting out in nature and enjoying the beauty that surrounds us is thrilling. I love hiking! And I am so glad I have friends to hike with. It is so important to do activities that bring us joy and new outlooks on life. I hope you enjoy activities and friends that you love.
Beautiful! My husband does most all of his "hiking" from the car seat. I sometimes get to get out to walk around. I sure wish he had stopped smoking years before he did because I enjoy walking. 136 days ago
