July 22, 2019 BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS
Those who are meek know the importance of relationships. They understand what God wants in a right relationship with Him as well as how to have a right relationship with others. Jesus gave us example after example of great relationships. We are to put others first. We are to get to know them by listening more than talking. As we listen, we learn what they need. We can’t know what they need unless we take time to build that relationship. It is important we listen to others just as God longs to listen to us.
Psalm 116:1-2 “I love the Lord, because he hath heard my voice and my supplications. Because he hath inclined his ear unto me, therefore will I call upon him as long as I live.” (KJV)
1. Write about the last time you really listened to someone.
2. List ways you can seek out others and encourage them.
3. Know God wants you to listen to and help others.
4. Seek ways today to build and strengthen your relationships with others.
Dear Lord, we know we are called to have right relationships with others and our role model is You. Help us to seek opportunities to listen to others. We want to find ways to help them. Help us to encourage others and stop being selfish only thinking about ourselves and our needs. Remind us daily that You listen to us and love us. Help us to listen to and love others just as You do. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
If we want to have right relationships with others, we need to stop being selfish and talking about ourselves.
Philippians 2:3 “Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves.” (NLT)
When we meet with others, we are to speak encouraging words to them.
Romans 1:12 “When we get together, I want to encourage you in your faith, but I also want to be encouraged by yours.” (NLT)
We are called to honor others above ourselves.
Romans 12:10b “Honor one another above yourselves.” (NIV)
