Still Maintaining

Sunday, July 21, 2019

This maintaining is new to me. Except that if I let my weight move to 160-165 I seem to maintain pretty much automatically. But my desire is to weight under 160, and maybe even get to my high school weight (first driver's license) of 155. Even at 155 I expect I'll still have a little of that beer gut that males seem plagued with, because I have less muscle mass than I did then, and more fat poured into my sought for 155 pound body.

But, today, I'm celebrating my first full week under 160 pounds in a long, long time. And I'm pretty happy about it because I really don't feel like I'm suffering food restrictions. I survived a conference marked by droning presentations and way to many snacks. I even made and shared with my wife a small ice cream recipe. Mostly, though, I'm getting along with portion control, and making a real effort not to snack at night when watching a movie or something.

One day, I hope to be able to say I've done a full week under 155. It's a goal.

Focus on health and portion sizes. The body will acclimate. Then maybe the weight loss will happen. I've been in maintenance almost 8 yrs. now, and definitely requires work like hiking up the exercise and being conscious of the KIND of calories I take in (nutritionally dense foods, vs. calorie dense foods).

Good luck. As was said, one day @ a time
