Have been stay-cationing

I’ve been on staycation this week with my husband and haven’t posted or blogged much. Not snacking, so I’ve lost a couple of pounds. I’m beginning to think my snacking at work is a stress-related problem. I have cut back drastically already on this and will continue to do so.

DH was on a business trip the week before our vacation, and his 65th birthday was last Saturday. He got home very late Friday. I took him out Saturday for a gourmet, high quality dinner, drinks, wine, dessert. Also had a cake from the local natural foods store the following day for him; banana chocolate chip pound cake, with cashew milk caramel ice cream. I am proud to say that I had only one small serving of this, and froze the cake in chunks for his slow consumption. I spoiled him with nice gifts and a fine time was had.

My sister-in-law came for lunch one day. I made an antipasto salad platter and homemade pizza. DH and I walked locally at Avalon, a park that wraps around a pond, observing the waterfowl and listening to bullfrogs. Right near the park we found a new small museum dedicated to the work of a local artist who passed away two years ago. Made me want to spend time painting. We had dinner out at our local Vietnamese restaurant. We shopped. DH bought himself a new small camera for his birthday. Here’s a sample of his work:

It’s been wonderful not having to go to work. I realize that I get overwrought with stress and don’t manage it well while I am working, and that is something that requires my attention. Exercise, or mostly a lack of it, will be key.

On to the next chapter. I’ve joined a group here that is setting a 50 pound weight loss goal for next July. I logged my food in today and am on my way.

    emoticon emoticon I think snacking is overrated and you are on the right track. Or as MILLIONS of MOMS have been and are still telling kids today--If you must have a snack, eat an orange or an apple! I need to get off the sweet pastry/ salty snack revolving door myself.

    Work can make me feel 'hungry' when I shouldn't be............ it's sometimes just a kind of need to divert myself and take a kind of 'break'
