It was a lot of fun visiting Los Angeles for my nephew Max’s wedding to Morgane, his long term girl friend. The wedding was small and casual, which made it very enjoyable. Morgane is French, and I enjoyed meeting her parents and sister who traveled from Paris for the wedding.

The wedding brunch
When Max graduated from high school, he really wanted a real diamond stud earring. My dear mom, his grandmother, bought him the diamond. She is now passed away, but I thought it was very moving that Max had the diamond she bought him made into a custom wedding ring for his bride. Mom would have loved knowing the diamond had a new life as a symbol of their love.
Morgane wore a lovely white jumpsuit instead of a lacy wedding dress. I thought she looked chic and practical for their very casual wedding parties. This photo is from the evening party, held on the patio of their favorite casual bar/cafe.
My sisters and I visited the Huntington Museum the next day. The old mansion is now a classic art museum

From the mansion we had a view of the gardens. And we greatly enjoyed exploring the gardens.
We visited the Rose garden, the Chinese garden, the desert landscapes garden, and the botanical greenhouse.
The greenhouse had a great collection of orchids and rare plants, including a rare corpse flower that was preparing to bloom.
Corpse flower bud (named for their foul odor when they bloom).. The bud is over 2 feet tall. The single bloom may measure over 4 feet.
This little girl was fascinated by watching the fish in the tank of the water garden.
An absolute highlight of the Huntington museum is the library. There is an enormous collection of important documents, including a Gutenberg Bible, important documents from the founding of our country, and a special room dedicated to documents early scientific discovery. Unfortunately none of my photos from this wonderful library are good; the room had special low lighting to protect the very old paper and ink. So I will close with a picture of my nephew Stephen, and his mom (Mary) and girlfriend Chloe. It was so much fun to see them again. I miss him, but I am glad he is doing well in his new job in his new home town.
