Well, I guess I am moving all my menu planning into the new week. Hubby came in last night and was in the fridge looking for something. He saw a head of cabbage and asked me to make the cabbage pot with the polish sausage for today. Okay, he is working over and is tired when he gets home and he wants one of his comfort foods. Okay, so changed all my plans for the menu yesterday and today. Yesterday he wanted tuna fish sandwiches which I made. Much less time consuming that what was on my menu plan. This one is about the same prep time as what I was making today. I have been making this dish since we were scrapping money together to make it from payday to payday and it was an inexpensive meal that would feed us for two days. Even 5 years ago when he had a layoff, we knew it was coming and I put $j40 a week in an envelope for groceries and we made it. It a good thing I shop the sales at the grocery, use coupons and buy my fruits and veggies at the farmer's market. I could spend $20 there 3very two weeks and have plenty for the 2 weeks. We still do this. The money is going to the seller for their family, etc and not to a corporate account. I believe this is the reason it is so much more affordable.
