Allegheny Portage Railroad National Historic Site---that's where we went! What rich history in this neck of the woods in PA. We walked through some rain to back from visiting the "Lemon House." Did not realize so many famous people had visited this spot back in the day, like Charles Dickens. . . so many more. The video in the private theater was very enjoyable. Then we went to the village of Gallitizin PA where picnicked across from the borough building and watch some trains go through an old tunnel.
We walked through this old caboose where we were having our picnic and watching trains. I said to the kids that this was set up like an old camper. Four bunk beds, a small kitchen and a booth to sit down and eat. Very interesting.
The last stop of the day was a mini golf course and Krispy Kream ice cream stand. That's where I totally messed up my nutrients for the day.
On the up side, I did a lot of walking.
It was so enjoyable to spend the day with the kids and DH. May you all be able to make wonderful memories with your loved ones.
