Sunday Morning Thoughts

Hello Sparkfriends! emoticon

Here we are almost halfway through the month. How are your goals coming along?

I am still partially off THE wagon over here. I say this because I have not been following my nutrition plan at all (STILL), but I am on track with lifting and running. I’ve been eating willy nilly and so naughty. My BF % has increased, I can see it and feel it. It is so true that you cannot out-work a bad diet. Nutrition really is EVERYTHING.

I’ve got to get through this challenging time, and counting macros just isn’t possible at the moment. But what IS possible is having some control over binges and cravings and not REACTING to my stress with food. It’s literally a daily struggle and a constant work in progress.

So me.

The good news is I just finished my 8 week summer lifting challenge. I feel stronger, and muscle definition is coming along. I will immediately start a new program tomorrow. Lifting is saving me right now.
I’m still running. Painful hips and all. I simply must keep going. emoticon

It is now 5 weeks until my big move to TN. Currently brainstorming how to transport 5 dogs (4 of them are BIG) and 5 cats for approx a 16 hour drive. Ideas anyone? We will be driving 2 vehicles, a car and truck. It’s going to be tricky. Seriously how to transport 5 CATS??
My pack:

Anyway, I’m feeling optimistic today. I like Sundays because it’s a fresh start to a new week. It’s one day at a time. One good nutrition choice at a time. One denial of junk food at a time. emoticon emoticon
I’ve got this! I control food, it does NOT control me.
Let’s have a great week, Sparkfriends.

Get a bigger car! emoticon But crate the kitties, of course! I moved my 5 from N.M. to TX with no problems (except for one cat who gets carsick). You might be able to get one of those screen things for the car/truck/van to keep the dogs from crawling up front with you. But it'll be a challenge for sure! I don't know about the tranquilizer thing -- too much can go wrong.

    But good luck!

    Lori,

I sure miss our veggie challenge and the team. I love your pet family.i can't imagine how you will transport them. Sounds like you need a third vehicle for the kitties! We travel with our two dogs and it can be a challenge! Hugs, my friend!

ah, I just came home from vacation.. and food indulgences galore! My one tip, don't stock it at home. Of course, I go into the office 3 days a week, so I can limit my choices there too. I'm also fasting in the morning, sipping on coffee until I reach that 16 hour fast as close as I can and that helps me focus more on my actual hunger cues.
Good luck figuring out what works for you. Stress is so hard! meditative visualizations? distract yourself when you get cravings? I like to chew gum.. always heard eat pickles.. the salty crunch distracts you from other junk foods?

cat carriers for the cats? Maybe really large size carriers? 2 cats in one? That is a tough one.

I hope the preparations for the move don't make you too stressed out. I see a lot of positivity in your words, and that makes me super happy! Keep up the attitude, and the strength training is amazing! Big hugs, my friend!

The dogs I don't think will be a problem we often moved long distances with our dogs but we only did it once with a cat in tow.I ay definitely crate the cats. We never crated the dogs but our dogs were seasoned military dogs who traveled everywhere . I think I would recommend seeing the vet and possibly tranquilizing the cats if they have anxiety issues, we had to do that for Whiskers my daughters cat , not enough to knock him out just enough to make him mellow but he was a rescue cat that had been abused and he had issues about abandonment

Crate the kitties unless they are used to rides. Crate dogs if it gives them comfort. You could rent a utility van that could pull a trailer. Lay down blankets for the dogs. Have the vet give you some anti anxiety meds.

oh my goodness, you have ALL THOSE puppies?! (I call all dogs puppies regardless of age) I am so jealous! emoticon I would love to be surrounded by lots and lots of dogs all the time! emoticon

I agree with JR - check in with the vet for ideas. When I moved with my beloved dog (R.I.P.) over 20 years ago, my main concern was the water change; my vet had me pack a bunch of bottles of water from our previous home to kind of "ease" her into the transition, and then gradually add some of the new water into the bowl of water from the previous location. Did that gradually adding more of the new water every day until all of the bottled water was used up and she was transitioned fine to the new place.

Anyway, praying for a good safe peaceful trip for all of you. emoticon

The struggle is real. I am rooting for you. Planning the big move adds more stress, I am sure. But I know you’ll get back and on it. Thanks for sharing your struggle, and congrats on sticking to the weight challenge.

I know I would have to do it in one shot, couldn’t deal with the stress of boarding for a night. But perhaps there is a pet-friendly AirBnb on the way. Also, check out BringFido.com

I think JR's advice about maybe getting some advice from your vet is a good idea. When we moved we just had our baby Mr. Spot and he sat in my lap or in his crate. But you have a crew! And BTW, they're adorable.

Be gentle with yourself. This is a HUGE change for you and it's unsettling. Take care of you. That's the kindest thing you can do!

You have quite the bunch! I have 2 cats and 1 dog that goes to the beach with us every other weekend. For the cats I have a double decker cat house inside a large dog crate and all three go in the one cage. My kitties do not like the car ride and like the feel of the walls around them. My sometimes my kitties share the space for comforting each other, but not the 2 I have now - we lost one about 2 years ago. Since it is only a 3 hour drive in the worst of conditions (2 hours normally) I do not worry about water and litter. I would ask the vet for ideas also and I hope they all do not mind car rides.
As for the dietary choices ~ one hour at a time, one meal at a time, one snack at a time ~ whatever it takes to get you through. Celebrate the good choices and forgive the bad choices it will help you feel accomplishment.
