week one results and recap

Sunday, July 14, 2019

Week one I lost 5.4 pounds and I'm very pleased with that! I'm excited to start week 2 today.

So, week one I made some good new recipes and made one of my favorites from the first time around. I also tried a product I didn't care for (coconut wraps)(but it could have just been the one I tried-mine wasn't crispy like i've seen others). I have another product to try (zipfizz) but I haven't felt inclined yet because i've been feeling good without the extra caffeine.

The oldy but goodie was fat-head pigs in a blanket. The newbies were waffles and chicken strips. All were excellent! I'm excited I made so many strips also because I can use them in salad or a quick meal with some added fat.

A few other products I tried were the lakanto sf maple flavored syrup, which is fantastic. The GHughes Teriaki sauce...fantastic. And, the GHughes honey mustard...not a big fan..it's to sweet for my taste. I could prob Dr. it up by adding regular mustard to it.? Not sure but it's not so bad i'd throw it away. Just wasn't my personal favorite. I used ranch instead. I love Annies Organic Cowgirl Ranch. yum.

Trying new things keeps me interested and happy. I still do plenty of basic meals also but you never know what you could be missing out on if you don't try it. ;) I did purchase some inexpensive items to help me with my keto cooking. A food scale, A mini waffle iron, some non stick baking mats, and some silicone molds/muffin tins. I need to make some fat bombs to just have on hand in the freezer.

I ate out a few times also. At buffalo wild wings I got an American burger with no bun, onions, or ketchup(it doesn't come with ketchup but I wanted to be clear about it. lol), and a side salad with ranch and no croutons. At Mexican I got the beef taco salad and just dumped it all out of the fried tortilla bowl onto my plate and ate that. It was good! Everything else besides the bowl was lowcarb. At Texas Roadhouse I got the grilled chicken salad with no croutons and ranch dressing. That's a favorite anyway because I can't have gluten. I just have to watch my carbs with my other meals more if I eat out. But, it's doable!

This week I want to add in more exercise. I've been in the pool quite a bit, swimming and playing around. I walk a decent amount also. But, I need strength training and I have a good dvd I enjoy that has that. Just gotta motivate myself to do it regularly! But, the results are pretty motivating.

I fit perfectly into a couple pairs of jeans that were to tight to wear. I tried on others in smaller sizes and they fit but are to tight to actually wear. I don't like my jeans really tight. Form fitting yes..super tight..no. And there is one pair that I know I'm going to look phenomenal in but I have a little ways to go. So, that is motivation for sure! Also, we're going to Gatlinburg, TN for our honeymoon(we always go there for vacations, it's awesome) and it will be Mid October...so I could be rocking those jeans and others I have. Plus,....we got one of those old timey photos taken a year or so ago where Everett is a cowboy and I'm a saloon girl. I hate it. I look so big. He thinks I look sexy but...no. I don't. I want to retake that stupid thing and actually be proud of how it looks! That is motivation also. 3 months is enough time for me to accomplish these goals if I stick with it.

As for exercise, you've made it past the hardest days (probably late day 2, then days 3 and 4), where your body ran out of stored carbs (as glycogen), then your body was forced to more seriously burn fat.

You are probably still an inefficient fat burner as your body chemistry is still in the middle of changing. The good part of that is that you don't extract many calories from fat, so you will be burning some off your body more easily,... the bad part of that, with regard to exercise, is that you may find you don't have the energy or stamina. You will in a few weeks though. For now, do the exercise, but if you feel dizzy, unwell, weak, or can't achieve previous levels of excursion, don't fret, and don't push yourself, you are still getting more and more adapted to burning fat. It's not as simple as eat it and therefore burn it, ... body chemistry is changing slowly.
