Went to the Art Institute of Chicago today with my eldest cousin, who is in from Orcas Island, WA for his grand-nephew's christening tomorrow. There is an Edouard Manet traveling exhibit on now until early September - we enjoyed greatly; also saw my favorite Monets that are owned by AIC - 6 of the Wheatstack series, one of waterlilies from a distance, one of several waterlilies much closer, sort of dreamy, & one of the bridge over the waterlily pond. I am so fortunate to live here, where there is so much great art.
We walked a _lot_ today. My cousin thinks AIC is nearly as big as the Met in NYC, but I really doubt it. And the temp outdoors was over 90, with 50% humidity. I can deal with 90, but not willingly with humidity.
Have a lovely tomorrow. We're going to the the christening, then a family party afterward, then I take him to O'Hare.
