I Just Saw a Post on MSN of the 10 Foods from the Nineties...

Saturday, July 13, 2019

that "you would never eat now". The picture was of some gooey contraption of beans, ground beef, cheese and jalapenos on top of Fritos in some sort of casserole. Okay. So that's the food you wouldn't eat now.

Scan down to the next frame on MSN. "Where to Find the Best 10 Burgers?" There was a picture of a thick and juicy ground beef patty on a bun with a gooey cheese dripping down the edges of it (and some lettuce and tomato) on a platter with some crispy and we know greasy French fries next to it.

Ya' know, I'm sure glad we've made progress since the nineties.

Knowing what I now know about fat, cheese, oil, fried food--it really helps to avoid most things and not miss them. I'm not perfect, but I'm pretty d* good!

Re sunnycaligirl: We are beautifully and wonderfully made. Our gut bacteria adjust to the foods we give it. That was the plan to let humans adjust to the food available to them. I definately feel poorly if I eat the things in that list, or ice cream. For me, it's just another reminder of what I need to do to be healthy.

Orange, yucky food eaten in great quantities (apparently still) leads to chaos in the highest places in the land.

The thing that has changed is that people are now aware they are eating bad food.

**SIGH** I think that was called a Frito casserole. Tried it ONCE. NOPE. Taht was it. It is difficult in this day and age of lightening speed changes and updated information that we pay more attention to advertisements, couponing (which is NEVER for things like broccoli, apples, whole foods, but rather -- hyperpalatable 'food wanna be's') then their health.

Confess to still eating burgers and fries at Mickey D's and adapting that Frito Casserole with vegan crumbles!! Never ate it before I made it vegan, though. It's good! And cheap.

I was just reading how food eaten in childhood affects your choices and gut bacteria for the rest of your life. And you gut bacteria influences your weight AND propensity for disease. I hadn't eaten at Mickey D's for over 18 years or more and now I am because of the economy and convenience. emoticon
