July 13, 2019 ACT IN LOVE
Yes, actions do speak louder than words. The things we do speak louder than what we say. We may say we care about someone but never spend time with them. We may say we forgive someone but don’t show forgiveness in our actions. We may say we love someone but don’t portray it in our daily lives.
We sometimes act on our feelings and do things that don’t show love. But God calls us to act in love.
1 Corinthians 13:4-7 “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” (NIV)
1. Write how you show love to others.
2. List what love means to you.
3. Know God has His definition of love in His word.
4. Read 1 Corinthians 13 to know more about love.
Dear Lord, we know love is the most important thing to You. We know You love us. We know Jesus died for us because of Your love for us. We know You have given us the ability to love and the definition of love. Help us to see out the qualities of love and to show love to others. We know a quality of meekness is to show love. Help us to develop both meekness and love in all we do. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
We are God’s people and are called to show love to others.
Colossians 3:12 “God loves you and has chosen you as his own special people. So be gentle, kind, humble, meek, and patient.” (CEV)
Ephesians 4:2 “Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love.” (NLT)
1 Corinthians 13:13 “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” (NIV)
We are called to clothe ourselves in love meaning we are to practice the attributes of love every day.
Colossians 3:14 “Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony.” (NLT)
