I'm catching up, as I didn't post yesterday
"Look for something positive in a difficult situation"
I was working until 10pm last night. It was intense personal care work with a man who is quadriplegic and doubly incontinent. He is now non-verbal, and has two tube-related things going in/out of his body. There is a TV on in his room most of the time. The program that was on last thing was about the ambulance service; one of those 'day-in-the-life-of' kind of things.
The positive thing was that on this program they showed a couple of instances where the people picked up were alcohol/drug-related, and very much like the man who lives in the flat above me. What was positive was seeing how compassionate the paramedics were - treating them like valued human-beings, reassuring them, assisting them.
It added to my small amount of insight and knowledge of these people whose lives have been dominated by addiction.
