Day 191: Baking Ideas

Wednesday, July 10, 2019

"Sometimes you don't even realize you're blocking your own blessings by holding onto the past or thinking negatively. Start letting go." (Author Unknown)

Hello, my lovely friends!!!

Baking for the holidays is something I really need to plan out. I normally make the same thing every year and they’re good, but I would love to make something new. I’m forever finding new recipes I want to try, but I end up forgetting about them until the week I decide to bake and it's too late. For this holiday season, I’m going to make some new things and plan for it now.

My idea is to have two types of cookies, candy and a bar of some kind. I usually throw in a jar of spiced tea or hot cocoa mix as well. So, I’m not a baker and its probably because I love cooking. I like throwing a little bit of this and that in there and baking it some precise. I’m going to change that by the time Christmas rolls around.

Two types of cookies ~ I want to do something with white chocolate and cranberries in there because it sounds like Christmas. For my second cookie, I would like something simple like a chocolate chip or a pumpkin cookie.

Now for the candy, I know a turtle candy would be simple and yummy. I also make peppermint bark and will do that because it’s so easy to do. If I don’t do a turtle, I could make another bark with something else like dried oranges or cherries in them. There’s a place online that does these huge chocolate bark bars and you can add your own mix to them. I might get a little fancy and do something like that.

When I think of a bar, I want it thick and filled with some gooey yumminess in it. For the twelve days of Christmas for day two I’ve posted a turtle brownie but have never tried it. It sounds gooey and yummy. Who doesn’t love a gooey brownie? I know I do.

Here’s my plan to start. I have an idea of what I want too to make and now I need to find a recipe and test it at least once. What I’m also going to do this week is look through my baking things in the pantry to see what I have and what I’ll need. I’m going to write down my list of what I’ll need and have that ready for November when I’ll buy everything. The other thing I want to do is try to make these as diabetic-friendly as possible. In the past, I’ve used sugar-free chocolate pieces and always have Splenda around. I have a plan and now it’s time to put things together.
