Speaking My Mind
Tuesday, July 09, 2019
I find that the older I get, the more I speak my mind. Things I would never have said 20 years ago (but still thought) come out quite easily. I am not sure if this is a good thing; I don't like to ruffle feathers. But...it comes out all the same.
My youngest niece is also my Goddaughter. She has a boyfriend staying with her. Two weeks ago, she was in the emergency room with a cyst under her breast. It was drained and she was told there was a staph infection. I talked with the doctor who said it wasn't MERSA, but that there are bacteria everywhere and somehow that's where she go it.
I went with my brother over to the house yesterday. EEKS! I thought my brother could get messy! My brother started at the kitchen sink. I started picking up boyfriend's clothes. Then I was able to get to the garbage that was on the floor, counters, furniture, etc. Thank goodness it was garbage day because I took out 5 bags of garbage. And we were just in the living room, kitchen and bathroom. It was two hours before I was able to start wiping things down.
Boyfriend made the mistake of walking in the door 3 hours into cleaning. I told him flat out that his dirty habits contributed to my niece being sick. "But I work" didn't cut it with me. Anyone who is 30 years old and only works 30 hours a month can't use that as an excuse to not pick up after himself.
It really wasn't my intention to say stuff when the guy just walked in. But it came out anyway. I need to practice holding my tongue a little more. I was talking the other day and Helena wanted to say something. She hold her palm out at me and said "Pause!"
