Goals & Gratitude 7/5/19

I realized today that I haven't blogged all week, so I figured I should to catch everyone up. On Tuesday, I had my friends Selina and Brianna over for dinner. On Palm Sunday, I always make cioppino (Italian fish stew) and invite them over. It's a labor-intensive dish, so I only make it once a year, and I make it on Palm Sunday as something nice to have before the hecticness of Holy Week. Only this year, I was horribly sick on Palm Sunday, so I ended freezing all the fish that I would have used. I was worried that it wouldn't taste as good using frozen fish instead of fresh fish, but everyone liked it so good to know! Yesterday, for 4th of July, I cooked here hamburgers and hot dogs with all the sides. I took everything over to Brianna's house. She doesn't really have access to a kitchen, so I couldn't cook there. We had everything in the backyard while watching the fireworks. We even had strawberries with pound cake for dessert.
Today, I'm getting back to normal. I exercised 6 out of 7 days last week for at least 10 minutes which I think is a record for me. I've been walking in the evenings when it's cooler. I also am meeting the trainer (Daniel) twice a month and then he gives me exercises to do throughout the month. I have to go to the gym tomorrow and work my butt off doing the lower body workout he gave me to do. We're particularly working on my core and legs to help improve my balance.
School is going well, though I wish I was farther ahead. I'm almost done for this week. I should be able to finish tomorrow, which will give me Sunday to start reading for next week. I have to do one chapter assignment, one discussion board, and a quiz for Management by Sunday night. I have to do one chapter's worth of work, one discussion board, and one paper fill-in-the-blank quiz for Business Law.
We are having lots of earthquakes here in Southern California. Yesterday (the 4th) there was a 6. something in Ridgecrest, CA which I felt down here a long ways away. It was rolling like being on a ship and I didn't even recognize it as an earthquake at first. I woke up from it and thought I was dreaming! We had a second one in Ridgecrest tonight-- a 7.1. I felt it and it went on and on. It wasn't big here but I kept expecting it to get bigger. I even went and got in the doorframe in case it did. But it didn't, thank God. I hope the people of Ridgecrest are doing okay.
1) Try to finish up this week's homework, or get as much of it done as I can.
2) Go to the gym.
3) Do the dishes.
4) Do the laundry.
Today I'm Grateful For...
1) That I have such good friends who will have dinner with me.
2) That our junior priest at church was made a spiritual father by the bishop today. That means he can hear confessions. It will take some of the burden off our senior priest.
3) That it hasn't been too hot here. It's only been in the high 80s, not the usual 100s.
