"Ships don't sink because of the water around them; ships sink because of the water that gets in them. Don't let what's happening around you get inside you and weigh you down." (Author Unknown)
Hello, my lovely friends!!!
It was a loud 4th of July in our neighborhood. As so many of you, fireworks are illegal here, but that doesn’t stop people in the neighborhood from going to Wyoming to buy them and bring them back. Normally, I’m okay with them shooting them off, but on Father’s Day someone was shooting off fireworks and two houses caught on fire and were destroyed a couple of blocks from us. Many people here are now annoyed with them. On the 3rd someone was shooting off some close by, but if you don’t know the address the police won’t come out. They were so close that it bothered Scooter. He became clingy and wanted to sit on my Mom’s lap.
We went to the cemetery to see my Dad. There’s a grocery store nearby and we pop in to get flowers when we go. We also picked up some fruits and veggies for the week. My Mom picks the flowers and she really liked the carnations that were red, white and blue because we had a flag and windmill to place there too. There were several funerals going on while we were there. My Mom is glad that we go after the fact but hates having to go there.
We live right behind a golf course and for the past couple of years, they do a firework display. It used to big at the park a couple of miles away, but they moved it to the golf course. We just get two chairs and sit in front of the window in one of the bedrooms in the front and watch the show. This way no bugs are biting us. Scooter just sat on my Mom’s lap watching, not bothered by them. We watched the Boston Pops and the fireworks show. I watched my “Twilight Zone” episodes I had in the DVR and we had some juicy hamburgers and homemade fries with some watermelon later. After the firework show, the rest of the neighborhood started setting off their fireworks and it was nuts. I live right next to a cul-de-sac and someone there was shooting off huge commercial fireworks. Those fireworks bothered Scooter because they were so close. He didn’t shake or cry, but he just cuddled with me. By midnight everyone stopped. We did get a lot of rain earlier and thought it would stop everyone, but no.
I hope you all had a wonderful 4th. Wait until you find out what tomorrow’s blog is about.
