Getting Out More

Today is Independence Day. Holiday. Picnic's. Fireworks.
But as I look ahead at the day it will be: catching up on household chores. Maybe watching fireworks on TV. Can I get a picnic in?
The holiday stuff is hard to do if you don't like crowds, if impossible parking, let alone impossible drivers, make driving impossible; if standing on a crowded bus is unacceptable; if sitting in a crowded field is to be avoided. And, of course, there's fog which, on at least half of occasions, completely ruins the fireworks.
So, likely a staycation - at the house, a walk through a nearby park, maybe a picnic. And I'll pressure wash the back patio and think about grilling something for dinner.
The holiday is really about what makes this country unique - the experiment in democracy that in the mid-1700's, was close to unthinkable. Despite the turbulence we've had over the years, it's worked out pretty well, and will continue to do so.
Happy Independence Day!
