Happy Half Year Eve!

Monday, July 01, 2019

Happy half new year's eve. While it's customary to note the passage of one year to the next, people seldom stop to reflect on the day that marks the exact middle of the year — July 2nd — when 182 days have passed and 182 days remain.

Starting the half year fresh
Weight 308.2 (+1.1)

The first half of the year was all about getting through the senior rush and graduation emoticon .

I am up emoticon a total of 8.2 pounds so far this year. I am pretty frustrated with myself. However I do realize that I have not completely given up and quit otherwise I would be back at 360 were I started.

My half year goal is simply emoticon to be able to show a loss for the year.

I am in menopause (51) my hormones are CrAzy!!! I am also facing an empty nest. This human being that I have loved and nurtured for the last almost 18 years is leaving to begin his own life. I am feeling so lost and overwhelmed and he is still least for the next 5 weeks.

emoticon Jacob is 2E meaning he is exceptionally gifted but also he is on the autism spectrum. I am just dropping him off to face the world on his own. My anxiety is through the roof. He is absolutely fine. He is going to go be with "his people". He has an IEP and student services has assured me that they are going to be there and he is going to be just fine. I am thankful for shows like "The Good Doctor" and even "The Big Bang Theory" that show a sensitivity to the Jacob's of the world. Breathe in, breathe out. Vanderbilt University is also premier in the field of Autism research and neurodiversity. He is going to be where he belongs.

We sent out Thank You cards.

A lady at church posted on Facebook that a thank you card should be "hand written and delivered with a stamp!" ...oops emoticon It was a major accomplishment to get Jacob to address and get them sent out. I am grateful for any acknowledgement. Another lady at church told me she loved his thank you card and has put It on her refrigerator.

The first half of the year was both half empty and half full. I expect the second half to be the same way. Jacob says a glass is always full even if it is half full of water and half full of air.

emoticon emoticon emoticon Keep Sparking friends! It is a journey.

I love your blog! Jacob is so right about the glass being full! Super smart guy! I like hearing it is halfway to a new year! Gives me a wake up call to do what I know I need to do. I also understand the senior year and knowing that you will have an empty nest. You will just have to turn your new extra time in on your wants and needs! Something that you don't always have the luxury of doing. You are doing a wonderful job with your weight loss. Sure obstacles come up to sabotage us. That's just something we need to overcome. Learning that can be the project for the next half of the year! Overcoming emotional eating for me! Just keep believing in yourself, because I sure believe in you!

Great blog! Thank you for the "halfway" reminder. I was just thinking about this last night and counting up the months... There's still plenty of time to do something awesome! I already think you're doing awesome. You went through an extremely stressful school year, all of those graduation events, all on top of your usual responsibilities, and you maintained a substantial loss, within ten pounds. That's a really big accomplishment!
