Cone Peak wildflower meadows

Saturday, June 29, 2019

Yesterday’s hike to Cone Peak meadows was a major NSV for my friend Hanne and me. It is a challenging hike, and it has been more than 10 years since we hiked it. It was a glorious experience.

We started out at Tombstone Prairie, then into the woods and steadily uphill.

Pentstemon blooming on a mossy boulder

Spotted coral roots

Long-tailed wild ginger

After about two miles, we emerged into a wonderland of wildflowers.

We were both smiling and happy, and thrilled that we made it to the open meadows.
