[ Scene: on a home tour gone awry]
Julia: We Southerners have had to endure many things, but one thing we Southerners don't have to endure is a bunch of bored housewives turning historical homes into theme parks, not to mention ill-mannered tourists with their Big Gulps, Mistys, Slurpees, and Frosties, their dirty feet overflowing rubber thongs, and babies who sneeze Fudgesicle juice! Out, out of my house! As God is my witness, I will burn it down myself before I let you in again!

Mary Jo: Julia, I hate to be the one to tell you this, but I don't think you're going to be invited to be on the tour of homes next year.
Julia: Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn.

Trivia: The mansion used as headquarters was really in Little Rock, Arkansas. For the first 6 seasons the theme song was an instrumental version of Georgia on My Mind. Ray Charles sang it for the 7th season. How fortuitous! I don’t need to tag some random Southern song. Excellent show, I loved it. (I grew up in Savannah, GA)

Georgia on My Mind, Ray Charles (The Song and first recording was from 1930. In 1960, Ray recorded it, and he’s owned the song ever since.)

Georgia, Georgia
The whole day through
Just an old sweet song
Keeps Georgia on my mind (Georgia on my mind)

I said Georgia
Georgia
A song of you
Comes as sweet and clear
As moonlight through the pines

Other arms reach out to me
Other eyes smile tenderly
Still in peaceful dreams I see
The road leads back to you

(Oh, I’ve got one ... this makes me furious. Y’knoo ... when men use Women’s Liberation as an excuse not kill the bugs for you. Oh, I just hate that! I don’t care what anybody says, I think the man should kill the bug!). I drawled a variation of this at work “It’s the man’s job to kill the bug!”

I said Georgia
Ooh Georgia, no peace I find
Just an old sweet song
Keeps Georgia on my mind (Georgia on my mind)

Other arms reach out to me
Other eyes smile tenderly
Still in peaceful dreams I see
The road leads back to you

Whoa, Georgia
Georgia
No peace, no peace I find
Just this old, sweet song
Keeps Georgia on my mind
I said just an old sweet song
Keeps Georgia on my mind
