Great American Campout
The Great American Campout was started in 2005 by the National Wildlife Federation, and was originally know as the Great American Backyard Campout. In an effort to expand the types of camping that were included, the name was changed in 2015. The goal is to get as many people to camp outside on the day, and throughout the summer. June is Great Outdoors Month too, so there is another excuse to get outside!

You should be outside somewhere camping! Camp in your backyard, in a campground, in a park, or in a forest. Camp with a big group of friends, or clear your mind and camp by yourself. Take in the stars at night, and watch the sun rise in the morning. Pledge to camp. The National Wildlife Federation gives away prizes to to lucky pledgers, and they also donate to worthy causes. In 2017, if 150,000 people pledge to camp, they will donate 5,000 trees to their Trees for Life program to help wildlife.
