Trying to find a new normal

Thursday, June 20, 2019

My body is fighting me in everything I do lately. I feel like I'm losing control of my life. Last night my best friend and I took an after dinner walk like I always do. It felt so good to be out walking since its been raining alot. Our total walk was just shy of 2.5 miles. The last quarter mile was horrible. My body was screaming out in pain. I barely made it up the driveway and in the house. So I took a nice warm shower which usually revives me. It didn't. I dragged around until I went to bed in so much pain. It feels so good walking but I've noticed that I do good part of my walk and I start slowing down. My tracker changes color as you walk slower or faster. It doesn't matter how long the walk, I still lose something towards the end. I've noticed that since I've been here. It's usually the very end of my walk. No matter how far I walk or how long I'm out there. Weather permitting I'll be walking again tonight. Hopefully my bff will be walking with me. Life has changed I just need to learn to adapt. Have a great week. Do your best but listen to your body. Sending you all love and hugs and prayers

Having to make adjustments is tougher than trying to keep going. Wise decision to listen to your body, you are the one who pays the price for pushing past your limits at the present time.
sometimes we just have to slow down and make changes. Hope you have less painful days ahead of you Ramona.

    Sorry, Ramona. emoticon

Exercise is not my friend right now and, unfortunately, may never be again. I am struggling to accept that it may become a permanent reality for me.

I have started taking Tumeric (Best to get the kind with pepper for absorption). It helps with inflammation. I also when I REALLY hurt take a bath with relaxing epsom salts. They make them in lavender and other scents that help me sleep too. I fractured my spine a few years ago and I do some yoga stretches for hip and back discomfort

Do you walk the same route every time? I know you are paying attention to time spent and length of the walks, but where you are walking may be the issue. Also, pay attention to where the pain is centralized, you may need to see a doctor to address a specific issue that is brought on by the walking. Wishing you the best of luck!
