Week 1 - Day 3 My aching shoulder & neck

Wednesday, June 19, 2019

Yikes, what started yesterday morning got worse and this morning is causing me frown lines...so let's investigate.

Causes of upper back and neck pain include:

improperly lifting something heavy
practicing poor posture
sports injury
being overweight
smoking

Our love of screens is also a likely culprit in upper back and neck pain. Sitting all day working on a computer screen, craning your neck to read the news on your phone on the way home, and slumping on the couch to watch several hours of television are great ways to throw your body out of alignment.

Like many health conditions, the effects of neck and back pain can be more severe in people who smoke or are overweight. Excess weight can add more pressure on the muscles.

Hmmmmmmmm...I always thought I just slept wrong, but now I am seeing more clearly now. My computer is killing me!

I think I need a dog.........

emoticon Computers are murder! I give it minimal time any more, mostly because of the ill effects on my neck and shoulders, and the other reason is that I don't get anything done!! It is such a time robber. emoticon

What helps me is a hot shower, and some stretches...

    Definitely . . . a dog is a sol'n! They give great hugs.

Otherwise, yes, computer time does wreck neck, shoulders (in terms of tending to have poor posture.) I have a standing desk and that helps.

Also, I set my timer for 50 minutes max. When that time goes off, time to step away from the 'puter. MOVE. It helps.

    HUGS and good luck.
