what do you do after a bad day

Wednesday, June 19, 2019

What do you do after a bad day? Yesterday, I binged. I cried. I had an anxiety attack. I had to leave work. Today, I’m prepared to have a great day. I have my snacks packed and lunch prepared. My dinner is already made. I am working to keep a clear mind by telling myself, I can do anything. I am going to focus on breathing and staying calm. There is no need to wait for Monday because I didn’t “fall off track”...I simply had a bad day. And today, I am going to put in the effort to have a better day.

I do cry when I mess up, but doing the tracking daily helps me put it in perspective and get over quicker.

There you go. You just had a bad day. In fact, I read somewhere, forget who said it but something like you didn't have a bad day, you one or a few bad moments, that does not make it a bad day.

I've tried to keep that in my head as it's so easy these days for me to go home and vent to hubs about "what an awful day I had" when really, yeah there were some really aggravating moments, meetings whatever and there were moments I made a mistake and misunderstood something I should have understood. But I try to look at the other moments in the day, even if they seem small and inconsequential.

I also try to focus on colors, smells and objects around me to distract me from my heart racing or fighting that overwhelming feeling like I am screwing things up.

I hope you feel like today was better. Let's own our day and make tomorrow a little better!

After a bad day I used to fixate on what I did wrong. Now I "own it", examine where I need to take ownership and dust off and go again. Stick with it!
