June 19, 2019 A GOOD HEART

We all want to have a healthy heart. We want to keep our hearts pumping so we may live a long and good life. A good heart is essential for good health. A good heart is also needed in order to serve God. Although we can exercise and eat right to keep our heart healthy, we can’t be good on our own to have the good heart God wants us to have. We need Him. We need His word. We need to live to obey and honor Him. A truly good heart comes only from God.

SCRIPTURE:
Luke 8:15 “And the seeds that fell on the good soil represent honest, good-hearted people who hear God’s word, cling to it, and patiently produce a huge harvest.” (NLT)

ACTION STEPS:
1. Write what you do to regularly help your heart.
2. List the ways you put good into your heart from God.
3. Know God wants you to have a good heart.
4. Pray, read God’s word and obey Him for a good heart.

PRAYER:
Dear Lord, we pray You will guide us to live according to Your will so we will have a good heart. We know You want us to plant the seed of Your word into our hearts. We know You want us to love others as You love us. We know You want us to put You and Your word first in our lives. Help us to do what we need to do to have a good heart that is right with You, Lord, we pray. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

REMEMBER:
When we love others, we are practicing to have a good heart.

1 Peter 4:8 “Most important of all, continue to show deep love for each other, for love covers a multitude of sins.” (NLT)

Doing good things with the right attitude and motives will help us to have a good heart.

Luke 6:45 “A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. What you say flows from what is in your heart.” (NLT)

If we make God and His word a priority in our lives, we will have the good heart He intended us to have.

FOCUS:
Matthew 6:21 “Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.” (NLT)
