The title means I'm preoccupied with myself, which is what you have to do if you want to change. You still have to take care of the people you've committed yourself to take care of, but I've let them know that I have to take care of myself first - in my case, meaning my health. I had a couple of cancer possibilities since the first of the year, and once I found out I was okay after all, I started thinking seriously about taking care of my prediabetes. It's like I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop.

I've been on the program 10 days, but no progress on the scale. It's made me worry that I'm incapable of losing weight. I keep telling myself that's not true, but until I see some activity on the scale, I will be in this no man's land. Hate it here. Want to move on. emoticon

The scale is often slow to show results at first. Don't give up. If you are making reasonable and healthy choices, over time the results will appear.

Stay off the scale emoticon and look for other non-scale indicators of loss. Do your clothes fit better? emoticon Do you have more energy? emoticon Do you get a better night's sleep? emoticon

Don't forget that weight loss takes time for the results to show on the scale. Many times the body will hold on to calories when you first begin a program if it is radically different. Fat will convert to muscle when starting a new exercise program. So the scale is not the best judge of the quality of a program. If you feel better and clothes fit a little better and you have more energy, those are all signs that things are starting to work for you.

Don't forget to take your measurements and check them if the scale doesn't budge. I find I lose a couple of inches, which I count as a non scale victory. Hang in there!
