just sayin’ … in the quietness

Monday, June 17, 2019

The g-kids have gone home … so the house is spooky … quiet … other than the sounds of rain.

We are grandparents of 9 … live within 45 minutes of DS#2 with 3 of them. DD in St Louis has 4 that we visit and stay with at least twice a year. DS#1 in Texas has 2 that we just visited.

I always wanted the Walton’s kinda family or at least a Leave it to Beaver … all together and kind to each other. Didn’t have it growing up … in the kindness department. Didn’t quiet make it myself … with my kids being around us.

I veered a … titch … last night off my path. I guess it was the let down of the g-kids leaving AND I ate lunch at 2ish coz I was taking care of everyone else but me, so I felt “hungry” in the late evening. Almond butter YUM and habanero cheese YUM, YUM. I stopped when I asked myself WHY are you eating??? Physically Hungry … NO. Then stop!!!

I reminded myself of how things had gone on the cruise … and the beginning of the month-long vacation … eat when you are truly physically hungry.

Our month-long vacation included a week in Galveston after the cruise. We went to the visitor center where I was completely overwhelmed with the lady’s bombardment of EVERYTHING to do in Galveston AND allllllllll the places to eat. Why does every place you ask about … it’s the food they want to make sure you hear allllll about???

We watched artists painting and showing their works, saw an 1877 ship docked there, several museums, the dog park, antiques, the beach, old mansions, a wood carving scavenger hunt … we ate pastries at a 55-year family owned bakery and got tamales from Pennies … also a long standing family owned “drive-up”.

We rested, chatted and had quiet time. Before movin’ on to our next adventure.

Ahhh … in quietness … we can hear.

Change your mind … and the rest WILL follow.
