June 17, 2019 QUIET TIME

It is really hard to find a quiet place to just sit and be still. There is always something going on around us and it is hard to find that quiet time alone with God. Probably the best time is early in the morning or late at night. A quiet and still heart can help us draw closer to God. This is when we are thinking. This is when we aren’t talking. This is when we aren’t doing anything but being still and quiet allowing God to be in our presence and soaking in all He truly is. Having quiet time each day will give us a beautiful heart.

SCRIPTURE:
1 Peter 3:4 “Be beautiful in your heart by being gentle and quiet. This kind of beauty will last, and God considers it very special.” (CEV)

ACTION STEPS:
1. Write when you have quiet time with God.
2. List what you do to make sure you take time with Him daily.
3. Know God wants so much to spend time with you.
4. Make time for God each day and practice being still and quiet.

PRAYER:
Dear Lord, we know it is so important we take time to be quiet with You. We know You have much to show us and tell us. We know we need to center ourselves in Your presence each day to draw closer to You. Help us to find a quiet time to sit with You and just absorb all You are. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

REMEMBER:
We are to quiet our hearts by not being afraid or angry so we can do what is right following God’s will.

Psalm 4:4 “Tremble and do not sin; when you are on your beds, search your hearts and be silent.” (NIV)

We are to quiet our hearts and take comfort in God, our Father, knowing He is with us and protecting us.

Psalm 131:2 “But I have calmed and quieted myself, I am like a weaned child with its mother; like a weaned child I am content.” (NIV)

We are to quiet our hearts and be still worshiping and honoring our God!

FOCUS:
Psalm 46:10 “Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.” (NLT)
