Happy Father's Day!
I called me Dad yesterday and talked to him. He is doing better. He still has a lot of muscle weakness, but he isn't using his walker anymore and is able to get out of chairs and the bed a lot easier. He still might have Parkinson's and needs a referral to a neurologist, but I think he's going to ask about that when he sees the doctor next week. I'm not going this time so we'll see how it goes.
I didn't do much today. I went to church. We had a potluck, complete with hot dogs and beer for the Dads, after church. I got caught up with a friend I usually don't get to talk to and I met some new people at the church. I went to the gym afterwords and put in an hour on the stationary bike. I think to ramp up my exercising, I'm going to try adding incline to the bike, so I'll do that tomorrow. It occurred to me when I was basically done, so I couldn't try it today.
I'm cleaning out my fridge this week so it's empty when I go on vacation. I'm not sure what all is in it... I know I have some chicken and some cooked yams, so I'll first work on that. I have lots of salad fixings. I don't really have much for lunches but there's always peanut butter toast.
I've been doing better with night time eating the last two nights. I made an egg for a snack two nights ago and that worked well to keep me full. I had celery with peanut butter last night and wasn't hungry at all after that. Someone here suggested getting more protein at night and I think that may be the key. I'm going to boil a couple of eggs tonight, so I can have that, and I have plenty of celery and peanut butter. I also picked up rice cakes at the suggestion of someone else and can have those with peanut butter. I think the key is to have a healthy snack that I can work into my calorie count.
1) Organize myself for summer school.
2) Go to the gym or the park for a walk.
3) Go to AAA to pick up maps and a guidebook of Washington, D.C.
Today I'm Grateful For...
1) That I got to talk to an old friend during coffee hour.
2) That I was able to meet the new people at church.
3) That the gym was quiet today.
