This isn't about being perfect

Yesterday, I was following links and ended up on Molly Patrick's page cleanfooddirtygi

I think somewhere within those pages I found this quote, "This isn't about being perfect. This is about being realistic and naturally gravitating towards nutrient dense foods the majority of the time."

I like that because I just cannot seem to get with my chosen eating plan 100%, but this isn't about being perfect, only realistic. Boy, does that take a lot of pressure off and with this mindset, I ought to be able to just shrug off those impulsive moments where I caved and gave in to some temptation. As long as I keep it realistic, meaning no binging on the junk, and if the rest of my eating was on plan, all should still be considered eating toward my goal.

A few suggestions I have read have been to shoot for 80% of the time. Now, one can take this to mean daily, weekly, or monthly. I have not yet made it one day being 100%, so if I look at as meeting my goal at 80%, that is a bit more encouraging to say I was successful for the day.

Eventually, that 80% ought to become a larger percent as I naturally gravitate toward toward eating the foods that are on my plan. It reminds me of a four week Forks Over Knives Plan where it starts with just breakfast the first week. The second week is breakfast and lunch, the third is breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The fourth week is onward! You should have the hang of it by then.

So, I'd like to give some encouragement to those who continually fall off the wagon (me) and say, "This isn't about perfection." It is about being realistic about your meal plan and your abilities to create and stick with your plan the majority of the time.
